Danna Sundet serves as Full Professor of Oboe at Kent State University and Artistic Coordinator of the Kent Blossom Music Festival. Her artistry, broad range, and versatility has its roots in her exotic upbringing. She grew up in Brazil, the Canary Islands, and Texas, speaking three languages fluently from early childhood. Danna moved to Cleveland in 1982 to study with John Mack and stayed. She received her B.M. from the Cleveland Institute of Music and her M.M. from Kent State University. Since 1987, Danna has been the principal oboist and regular featured soloist with The Erie Philharmonic. She has recorded CDs with Panorámicos and WorldView International (now known as Ancient Path), records regularly for Ludwig Publishing Company, and created the KBM recording label in 2012. Danna specializes in performing as a featured soloist on the oboe, oboe d’amore, and English Horn at Bach Festivals, including the prestigious Carmel Bach Festival and the Baldwin-Wallace Bach Festival. Danna has performed as extra with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and the symphonies of Akron, Canton and Charleston, WV. She served as oboist with the former Cleveland Opera and Cleveland Ballet, and has served as principal oboe for touring ballet companies, including the National Ballet of Canada, the Houston Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, the Pennsylvania Ballet, and the Miami City Ballet. In 2008, she was one of several US performers invited to the Cayman Islands Arts Festival. Danna performs each summer with the prestigious Bellingham Festival of Music in Bellingham, Washington, and she is the Musical Director of the John Mack Legacy Oboe Camp in Little Switzerland, NC. She is administering the archives and musical library of the late John Mack, organized a concert in his honor in Severance Hall, and produced and performed on the John Mack Memorial CD.
Mark Addleman has served as assistant/associate principal horn of the Erie Philharmonic since 2012. Mark began his instrumental journey on the piano at age 5 and traveled through the cello, trumpet, and euphonium before finding his voice on the French horn at the age of 20 while studying music education at Temple University. After graduating from Temple, he attended Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s principal horn, William Caballero. After graduating from CMU in 2012, Mark began his orchestral performing as assistant principal horn of the Erie Philharmonic, under the baton of Daniel Meyer. Mark has been acting principal horn for the Erie Philharmonic and Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra for the past several seasons. In addition, Mark has been guest principal horn with Resonance Works in Pittsburgh, the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, and the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra. When not on the stage with a full symphonic orchestra, Mark feeds the soul through chamber ensembles. Additionally, he has stepped outside the world of classical symphonic music and was the horn player for Alia Musica, a contemporary ensemble championing the works of Pittsburgh composers; principal of Microscopic Opera, a small and intimate chamber opera company; and performed with Quantum Theatre in Pittsburgh for Ainadamar by Osvaldo Golijov. Mark is a musician in the evening, as he spends his days as a Vice President of Risk Management at his local community bank, Somerset Trust Company. Through his creative experience performing across genres and business involvement through Somerset Trust, Mark was recently named President of the Board of Trustees for the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra. He was born and raised in Somerset, PA, where he currently resides with his husband, Chad. A celebrated pianist and harpsichordist,
Dr. Elizabeth Etter has performed on many stages throughout the eastern United States including the Chautauqua Institution, Cleveland Museum of Art, and Carnegie Music Hall.
