The Trinity Forum: The Rev. Dr. Luke Powery

Trinity is excited to welcome the Rev. Dr. Luke Powery, dean of Duke University Chapel in Durham, N.C. on Martin Luther King Sunday, Jan. 15. He will preach at the 9 and 11:15 a.m. services.
At the 10:10 a.m. education hour, Powery will be the guest of the dean for the Trinity Forum. They will discuss faith, preaching and witnessing “among the dry bones”, and what it means to confront the powers of death with an honest and spirit-filled word of hope. The Trinity Forum will be livestreamed here on this page and at facebook.com/trinitycleve.
Powery is also an associate professor of homiletics (the art of preaching) at Duke Divinity School. He is an author of numerous books including, Spirit Speech: Lament and Celebration in Preaching, Dem Dry Bones: Preaching, Death, and Hope and Rise Up, Shepherd! Advent Reflections on the Spirituals.
He is a member of the Academy of Homiletics, the American Academy of Religion and the Society for the Study of Black Religion.
