Celebrating Todd Wilson

We love to celebrate good things. Nothing quite draws a crowd like a bishop ordination or a baptism Sunday. We gather eagerly at events like new member liturgies and Confirmation Sundays. We attend well to the exciting things that are changing in our midst.

But changes and transitions also include saying goodbye. Whether saying farewell to longtime members who move away or offering pastoral care to those experiencing loss, we open ourselves to the movement of the Holy Spirit when we are attentive to moments of change.

This month we are experiencing one of those sacred moments as we say farewell to Todd Wilson, Trinity’s Director of Music, who has served this cathedral for almost 15 years. Todd is a profoundly gifted musician, a beloved director, and a wonderful colleague in ministry. On top of all that, he is very humble person and an all-around great human being. We have been blessed to share this ministry of beauty and transcendence with him.

Todd will serve through the end of December, so I hope you’ll join often as we move through the holy seasons of Advent and Christmas. This Sunday in particular, I invite you to join us for a festive “coffee hour” gathering after the 11:15 service to give thanks for Todd and to celebrate his time at Trinity.

Let’s give thanks for the ministry of Todd Wilson, and for the presence of the Holy Spirit that has moved through the music that fills this sacred place!

The Very Rev. Bernard J. Owens, Dean
