A Place for Families —
Opportunities for Kids
Trinity Cathedral offers children, youth and families a variety of programs to foster a life of faith at the church and at home. Our programs strive to give children tools to navigate their own spiritual journeys as they learn who they are and make their way into the world.
Young children are welcome in worship, and the cathedral has a space where children can move and play during the service. Children four years old through 5th grade can participate in Children’s Chapel during the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday services, except in summer.
Trinity offers Sunday school and Youth Group for children between services each Sunday during the program year, as well as special events year-round.
Our faith education program is staffed by dedicated, Safe Church, Safe Communities certified volunteers.
Sunday School
Trinity offers Sunday school for children Pre-K through sixth grade at 10:10 a.m. each Sunday from September through the first part of June, as well as special intergenerational events throughout the year.
Trinity uses well-crafted and time-tested curriculum in our Sunday school program. Each week our young people delve into the Scriptures to see the ways in which God loves us, how we can better know Jesus, and how we can let the Holy Spirit lead us. Using age-appropriate lessons and teaching methods, our young people have a chance to encounter God, ask questions, and deepen their faith.
Youth Group
Youth Group is the name we have for our offerings for those in grades 7-12. Sunday’s from 10:10–11 a.m. is our formation time, where we help our young people learn more about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit as well as a place for young people to explore and deepen their faith.
Youth Group AC (after church) is our fellowship time with each other. These are offered the second and fourth Sunday of the month from 1-3 p.m. We usually go “off campus” on the second Sunday and stay at Trinity on the fourth Sunday. Our outings have included laser tag, miniature golf, ropes courses and pizza. We have also baked dog treats for our Blessing of the Animals service and created a standing mailbox for the Marion-Sterling pen pal program.
Acolytes
Youth and adult acolytes assist the clergy during worship services, assisting in procession, during the proclamation of the Gospel and the celebration of the sacraments.
Young people in grade 5 are invited to train as acolytes. Youth acolytes are from grades 6–12.
