History Day & Presiding Bishop Installation

November 2, 2024 | 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Trinity Cathedral is a place with a story.  Or rather, Trinity Cathedral is a place with thousands of stories that come to form a culture of worship and service that has changed lives for more than two centuries.

You may already know that Trinity is the longest-worshipping Christian community in the city of Cleveland. But how much do we know about the stories of the people and the city, the Bishops, Deans, and People of God, whose faithful work allowed Trinity Cathedral to be the embodied presence of God in the city, at very different times in the life of our community?

I firmly believe that to learn our deeper history through the eyes of those who experienced it is a rare gift, one that we as a Cathedral community have a great opportunity to explore.

I’d like to invite you to Trinity Cathedral’s first History Day  on November 2nd, where we’ll begin to explore Trinity’s past through the lenses of faithful Trinitarians who served as the Cathedral was being built, who endured the hardship of the Second World War, and who were here in the late 20th century as the Cathedral began to live into a new ministry in a changing downtown.

But this is also about our future as a church. That same day, Bishop Sean Rowe’s installation as Presiding Bishop will be livestreamed, and Trinity will host a viewing party that will integrate into our history day.

All are welcome…not just our weekly congregation, but all those who know Trinity as their cathedral, as an embodied expression of the ministry of the Diocese of Ohio.

The Very Rev. Bernard J. Owens
