Music and ArtAt Trinity Cathedral, music and art are at the heart of the way we glorify God and reach out to the community.
Trinity's choir sings each Sunday at 11:15 a.m. as well as for special services. A Children's Choir performs frequently on Sunday mornings, and members of Trinity Chamber Orchestra join the Choir for Christmas Eve, Easter Day and other Sundays throughout the year. There are two Dutch mechanical action organs by Flentrop in the Cathedral, a 1976 Choir Organ of 14 stops and a 1977 Great Organ of three manuals and 39 stops. A Flemish harpsicord and a 1912 Steinway grand piano are also used frequently. The Gallery at Trinity Cathedral displays visual art that reflects and engages our community. Each year we host diverse exhibits related to the Episcopal Church, Cleveland, and programs at Trinity Cathedral. Trinity Cathedral cooperates with Music & Performing Arts at Trinity Cathedral, an affiliated organization that seeks to enrich the life of the Cathedral and the community through music and performing arts. M&PA was created in 1977 as a community outreach program of Trinity Cathedral. The first project was to establish a noontime concert series to use the Cathedral space during the week and to deliver free musical events to the downtown community on a regular basis. The series was enhanced in 1986 with the founding of the Trinity Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Players. Now M&PA is known throughout the city for its series of eclectic, free Wednesday lunchtime brownbag concerts. The Medieval Feasts, 14th century banquets with period entertainment and costumes, are held in December in the Cathedral Nave and serve as M&PA's major fundraising event. This community-based benefit attracts over 1,000 guests each season, and helps defray expenses of the Brownbag Concert series. The events are self-produced with over 50 Trinity and M&PA volunteers assisting. For more information about Music & Performing Arts at Trinity Cathedral, Inc., visit the M&PA Web site.
